The project of ‘Catching up’ with the west has had violent repercussions for Turkey.

This violence is experienced not only bodily but culturally and psychologically, hardening into a background of anxiety.

How does the materiality of available technologies modify the people handling them? This work performs both the anxiety and eagerness of Turkish modernity—it makes a poetics of ‘catching up’.
